It’s important to note that Viagra is only effective when you’re sexually aroused. This article discusses priapism, the prolonged erection (or flushing) associated with sexual activity, possible health risks, and priapism treatment.
Priapism is a prolonged erection (or flushing) associated with sexual activity. Priapism can occur in both men and women. The duration of the erection will vary depending on the severity of the condition.
Priapism can also occur with certain medications, such as Viagra. In some cases, the condition may be associated with surgery or radiation therapy for prostate cancer.
Viagra’s timeline varies depending on the medication and the severity of the condition. For example, Viagra (sildenafil) may start to work within 30 to 60 minutes and may last up to 4 hours.
Priapism typically resolves in a few days, although it may last as long as four months. If you take Viagra, seek medical help right away.
Viagra (sildenafil) is a prescription medication that is used to treat men’s sexual performance problems (SPD). It works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection.
It is typically taken about 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity. However, taking Viagra 15 to 30 minutes before can help you feel more relaxed and allow for more spontaneity in your life.
The most common storage conditions for Viagra are its potency and its duration of action. Viagra has potency, which means it stays in your body for long periods of time. When you take Viagra, it can cause flushing of your skin, which can affect your sex life. On the other hand, it can also cause headaches and dizziness.
Priapism can also occur if you take other medications, such as nitrates, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. It is important to note that Viagra is only effective when you are sexually aroused.
Like all medications, Viagra can cause side effects. Common side effects may include:

Background:The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Viagra (sildenafil) and Pfizer's Viagra (sildenafil citrate) in August of 1998. Both drugs are used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and other sexual problems. FDA approved these two drugs in November of 1998 in the United States for the treatment of men with ED, but did not approve them for the treatment of patients with other conditions, including pulmonary hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a difference in the rates of erections and strokes reported in patients who took these drugs. The investigators used a retrospective study of a total of 1,879 patients who were treated with Viagra and Pfizer in a large hospital setting. They recorded the number of sexual intercourse attempts and the time to onset of erections, the time of the earliest spontaneous erection, the number of attempts, and the duration of erection. The study was a prospective, randomized, controlled trial. The investigators assessed the rate of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer in patients who had a history of cardiovascular diseases (e.g., heart failure, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris) or who had taken nitrates for chest pain (e.g., nitroglycerin) or other nitrates for angina (e.g., isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and other). The investigators concluded that the rate of men who took Viagra and Pfizer did not differ in the study group. The study population consisted of 1,879 men who were treated with Viagra and 1,879 men who were treated with Pfizer. Of the 1,879 men treated with Viagra and Pfizer, 11.4% had a history of cardiovascular diseases and 10.7% had taken nitrates for chest pain. Of the 11 men treated with Viagra and Pfizer, 6.7% had a history of cardiovascular diseases and 1.4% had taken nitrates for angina. The rates of men who took Viagra and Pfizer did not differ in the study group. There were no significant differences in the rate of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer in those who had taken nitrates for chest pain.
The study was sponsored by Pfizer. The study was approved by the U. Food and Drug Administration. Informed consent was obtained from all patients. The study design was retrospective and did not involve any individual patient. Data were analyzed by setting and method. The data were collected from the study's patient and physician records. Results:The mean age was 64 years in the study group and 62 years in the control group. In the study group, the average number of sexual intercourse attempts was 9 attempts, whereas in the control group, the average was 11 attempts. There was no difference in the rate of Viagra and Pfizer in the study group (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 0.99, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.95–1.00, and AOR = 1.04, 95% CI 0.98–1.19, respectively). There was no significant difference in the rate of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer (AOR = 1.03, 95% CI 0.97–1.10, respectively). The rates of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer did not differ in the study group (AOR = 1.11, 95% CI 0.99–1.22, and AOR = 1.12, 95% CI 0.99–1.22, respectively) and in those who had taken Viagra and Pfizer (AOR = 1.05, 95% CI 0.99–1.13, and AOR = 1.06, 95% CI 0.99–1.13, respectively). There were no significant differences in the rates of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer in those who had taken nitrates for chest pain (AOR = 1.00, 95% CI 0.99–1.06, and AOR = 1.00, 95% CI 0.99–1.02, respectively). The rates of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer did not differ in the study group (AOR = 0.99, 95% CI 0.95–1.00, and AOR = 0.99, 95% CI 0.94–1.01, respectively). The rate of men who were taking Viagra and Pfizer did not differ in the study group (AOR = 0.99, 95% CI 0.94–1.01, and AOR = 0.99, 95% CI 0.97–1.01, respectively).
